Aurora has been the host broadcast partner for Formula E since its inception, supporting the series' growth over 12 seasons.
As the world’s only all-electric FIA World Championship and the only sport certified net zero carbon since inception, the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship brings dramatic racing to the heart of some of the world’s most iconic cities providing an elite motorsport platform for the world’s leading automotive manufacturers to accelerate electric vehicle innovation.

Aurora has been the Host Broadcast partner since the very beginning, with Race One in China in 2014. Across 12 seasons, we have delivered over 150 races across 33 cities in 24 countries. We’ve helped shape the media product from the ground up, delivering a full range of live and non-live content, including live crews, highlights shows in multiple languages, magazine programs, behind-the-scenes documentaries, and branded content for teams and partners.
We travel around the globe setting up complex outside broadcasters in places as diverse as Tokyo and Mexico City. With ground-breaking graphics and inventive coverage, we deliver for rights holders and a multitude of broadcast partners to ensure they receive the most modern on-screen experience in the of the world’s fastest growing sports properties. Via on the ground crew owithover 200 cameras, and our industry leading remote gallery back in London creating bespoke feeds for multiple broadcasters around the world.

Aurora is tasked with using broadcast innovation to enhance storytelling clarity, explain complex race mechanicsin real time and deliver a scalable, cost-efficient production model across a global calendar. A further objective is to reduce environmental impact while maintaining premium live coverage standards for a rapidly growing international audience.
As Host Broadcast Partner, we deliver a range of outputs including the live broadcast world feed, highlightsprogramming, shoulder programming and content for digital, as well as supporting brand sponosr activation.
Aurira deploys a fully integrated, technology-led production model designed for scale and efficiency.
Key elements include:
- Remote production with host and press galleries based in London, connected via low-latency IP transmission
- AI-supported car tracking and visual recognition to improve live storytelling and race clarity
- Augmented reality graphics explaining energy strategy, Attack Mode and race context
- Drone cinematography replacing helicopters to deliver dynamic visuals with lower environmental impact
- Cloud-based workflows enabling real-time collaboration across multiple territories
This approach allows us to maintain consistent quality across the calendar while reducing on-site footprint, supporting Formula E’s sustainability ambitions and enabling rapid content delivery to global broadcasters and digital platforms.
Results
A record breaking season
Season 11 delivered Formula E’s strongest broadcast and digital performance to date.
Key outcomes included:
- 500m+ global viewers across the season
- Record single-race and weekend audiences, including 44m viewers for Mexico City and 65m across the Jeddahdouble-header
- Record US audiences on CBS
- +13% video views, +12% engagement and +10% social follower growth year-on-year
Enhanced onboard cameras, AR graphics and AI tracking increased replay usage and social sharing, while feedback from teams, commentators and broadcast partners highlighted improved clarity during complex race phases.
Alongside audience and commercial growth, Formula E’s sustainability leadership was reinforced in 2025 when it became the first sport globally certified to the BSI Net Zero Pathway. The championship has committed to cut Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 50% and Scope 3 by 27.5% by 2030, with Aurora’s remote production model supporting a 25% reduction in freight-related CO₂ emissions.
